4.2 [OPEN FLOOR]
Thursday Apr 02, 2020
Thursday Apr 02, 2020
While our gatherings are suspended due to COVID-19, we’re bringing one of our most cherished practices to the podcast: the open floor. This episode features responses to our March 29 teaching on holiness, picking up the theme “set apart” and asking ourselves “for what purpose?” and “to what extent?” The prompts offered for response were:
Consider how you can create some beauty or goodness for the world in this unsettled time, let us know what you did and how it went.
Return to some practices this week: prayer, meditation, almsgiving, the examen, or another favorite. Let us know how that goes.

3.29 [TEACHING] The Sacred Fire - Holiness for Lent (wk 5)
Saturday Mar 28, 2020
Saturday Mar 28, 2020
Ryan Yazel - Matthew 8, Matthew 5:13-16
As we continue our lenten series on holiness, we pick up the theme "set apart" and begin to ask ourselves "for what purpose?" and "to what extent?" The church has taken many approaches through the centuries, regarding how distant or engaged it has been with the world around it, with some approaches looking more like the example of Jesus than others.
At the end of this week's episode (and future episodes while our gatherings are suspended), you'll hear some questions for response. Call 574-387-2151 and leave a voicemail response. Then, on Thursday, April 2, we'll release an [OPEN FLOOR] episode featuring your responses. Here are those questions:
Consider how you can create some beauty or goodness for the world in this unsettled time, let us know what you did and how it went.
Return to some practices this week: prayer, meditation, almsgiving, the examen, or another favorite. Let us know how that goes.

While our gatherings are suspended due to COVID-19, we're bringing one of our most cherished practices to the podcast: the open floor. 3.22 [TEACHING] The Sacred Fire - Holiness for Lent (wk 4)
Saturday Mar 21, 2020
Saturday Mar 21, 2020
Jason Miller - In this unexpected moment of social distancing and quarantines, we're considering the power of holiness as a communal project. It's not just a private, personal thing. It's an "us" thing. In that spirit, we're also bringing one of our favorite features from our in-person gatherings to the podcast -- the open floor. At the end of this week's episode (and future episodes while our gatherings are suspended), you'll hear some questions for response. Call 574-387-2151 and leave a voicemail response. Then, on Thursday, Mar 26, we'll release an [OPEN FLOOR] episode featuring your responses.
How are you doing with all the COVID-19 disruptions? What's been especially difficult with everything going on? What's helping you adapt to this unexpected season? How are you coping?
Where in your relationships have you seen holiness as a communal project? Where have you known the presence of God in the space between people?
Who in your life has helped you grow in holiness, wholeness, or being present to the presence of God? How have they done that?

3.15 [TEACHING] The Sacred Fire - Holiness for Lent (wk 3)
Sunday Mar 15, 2020
Sunday Mar 15, 2020
Jason Miller - Our in person gatherings are suspended in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, but we're continuing our Lent teaching series on holiness. You might have heard the word holy defined as being "set apart", but that raises all sorts of questions. Set apart from what? For what? And what could it possibly mean when God is described as set apart, if God also fills everything everywhere?

2.9 [TEACHING] The Ministry of Ordinary Places
Wednesday Feb 12, 2020
Wednesday Feb 12, 2020
Shannan Martin - This week we heard from author Shannan Martin on the power of living close to the ground and close to our neighbors, following Jesus by loving the people and places in our ordinary, every day lives.
She closed our gatherings with this moving benediction:
May you go out into this cold day warmed by the fire in your own bones.May you come to see walking shoes, soup spoons, mini vans, and wrinkled hands as worthy tools for the kingdom.May you crave low places—the messy, the boring, the overlooked, the complicated.May you grow comfortable with grit in your teeth.May you see God’s presence in the moon, God’s glory in the clouds, and God’s goodness in the faces around you.And may you find your shelter in the untamable garden of community, God’s kingdom on earth, right where you are planted.Grace and peace be with you.
