In this week’s gatherings, we engaged in some practices to help us reflect on what we’ve discussed around Matthew 7. We continued to look at what it means for God to live God’s life through us through these texts that tackle judging, prayer, following the path, bearing fruit, and minding the gap.

Jason Miller - In the final words of the sermon on the mount, Jesus tells us that he actually intends us to apply the things he said. But why trust a vision of life that runs so counter to our instincts for safety, security, and self-preservation?

Over the next few weeks we will have conversations with members of our SBCC family and community leaders about the Tribune Project, as well as provide updates on the financial commitments made so far. This weekend, we had the chance to hear a conversation between Jason and Willow Weatherall. Willow was instrumental in bringing SBCC to our current home at Studebaker. Today she serves as Executive Director of Downtown South Bend, Inc, and she shared a unique perspective with us on our move to the Tribune.

Jason Miller - After spending the last several months hearing Jesus describe what the life of God actually looks like as we've studied the sermon on the mount, it's not hard to realize that some of the voices who talk the loudest about Jesus are far from the life he describes. But let's not be surprised by that - Jesus actually anticipates this in his teaching.
